The above training will be delivered at our premises in Ballymun.  Prospective students need to be available to engage in learning and study on the days indicated for each programme.  It is essential that students have computer and internet access to engage with their own self-directed learning.
 
Introduction to Addiction Studies
Run over two-days this training is for those wishing to gain a good basic understanding of drugs and related issues.  Content includes: –

  • Process of Addiction
  • Addiction and Family
  • Treatment Approaches/Making Referrals

Community Addiction Studies Course (CASC) – QQI Award (Minor) Level 5 : September 2023
The Community Addiction Studies Course is for anyone living or working in the community who would like to be more effective when it comes to drug/alcohol issues. This course runs over twenty weeks, one-morning each week (10am-1pm).  Content includes: –
  • Pharmaceutical information on drugs & their effects
  • Process of addiction
  • How addiction effects individuals, families, communities
  • Social analysis
  • Media analysis
  • Personal development
  • How individual and communities can respond
  • Field visits to drugs services
Accreditation: QQI Award (Minor) Level 5.  Cost: €200.

Urrús Keyworking, Care Planning and Case Management – QQI Award (Minor) Level 6 : September-December 2023
This programme is offered in response to the emerging skills, knowledge and practice needs of new and existing keyworkers in the drug and alcohol, homeless and broader social care sector.  Urrús Keyworking, Care Planning and Case Management programme will give learners the opportunity to understand the systems of key working, care planning and case management within the National Drug Rehabilitation Framework.  The programme runs over twelve weeks, one-day a week (10am-5pm).  It is essential that students have computer, internet access and email to engage with the course learning. Content includes: –
  • Key Working – systems and processes
  • Care Planning – policy and practice
  • Case Management – framework and communications
  • Professional Boundaries – understanding and techniques
  • Confidentiality and Case Notes – guidelines and application
  • Reflective and Professional Practice – theories and practice
Accreditation: QQI Award (Minor) Level 6 – 30 Credits. On successful completion of the programme learners will receive a component certificate in Person Centred Planning (6N2206) and in Boundary Management (6N2207).  Cost: €595.
